Kendell ‘History’ Hinds in Fuerza Bruta NYC
On September 17, 2013, Kendell ‘History’ Hinds became a cast member of the amazing show FUERZA BRUTA! The story behind him being added to the company started from a one day audition, that turned into a 6 day audition process, plus a 2 week training period.
Heading to 6 back to back callbacks definitely interfered with History’s normal work schedule. He continued to make the sacrifice in hopes to finish out the audition process and to also see what would become of this second opportunity. For him this audition wasn’t just a regular audition. History auditioned for the show before and was turned away. Not because he lacked the talent, but due to lack of experience. Several years went by and now here he was again back at the same audition with more experience and more drive to do what he wasn’t able to do before. After a lot of waiting History finally got word from his agent that he was a part of the final cut of dancers who made it and he was surely was excited.
History says, training for this show was not only intense but very physically demanding. On a daily basis you were consistently pushing your body to see how much it could withstand. From being in this industry for quite a while, History knew this training period was not only training, but an extended part of the auditioning process. Even though they were training, everyone got their chance to be added in the show to get some performance experience. Some started with small roles and others went straight to bigger roles with a little more pressure placed on them.
In History’s first couple of performances he made small mistakes that were and weren’t noticeable, but at the same time he always received encouragement, helpful tips and guidance from the current cast members. History and the other new cast members will only get better from here on since practice makes perfect. The hard part for him now will be taking care and maintaining his body to always keep it performance ready. In this show everyone has to know every part so that surely keeps History and his cast members on their toes every night.
